découverte de la volkswagen id.7 tourer gtx : un essai sur routes et chemins
When the word "break" resonates, one does not immediately picture an electric vehicle that could rival the finest sedans. Yet, the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer GTX arrives on the market with specs that would make a cyclist blush in the early morning. Think of it, a break that combines driving comfort and impressive performance, this is a saga worthy of the greatest automotive tales.
The vase disguised as an athlete
A few years ago, it was unimaginable to associate the term "sporty" with a Volkswagen, especially when it came to electric sounds. But here, the German manufacturer has decided, much like a good old retired rocker, to pull out its contraband guitar. The ID.7 Tourer GTX boasts 340 horsepower, as if it were just crumbs. Speaking of numbers, this true consumption beast can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 5 seconds. Impressive, right? But what about its somewhat "assisted" steering that resembles a mule too tame for horse racing?
A space that would make an SUV blush
Sour spirits will say that the Volkswagen ID.7 has a look reminiscent of a Normandy wardrobe. But once inside, the magic happens. With 605 liters of trunk space, it can compete with any suburban train. A spacious rear bench and massaging front seats? It starts to resemble a wellness center on wheels. The legroom is simply phenomenal, perfect for those who spend more time in the back than at the wheel.
Performance and autonomy: the modern dilemma
In terms of autonomy, the ID.7 GTX does not disappoint. Although some people may not reach the promised autonomy marathon, a 86 kWh net battery still leads the way. Admittedly, the reality skims just below 600 km, with actual results more in line with 410 km under varied conditions. But beware, on the highway at 130 km/h, frugality fades away like a poorly prepared dinner that requires a serious reevaluation of the recipes!
As for charging, it feels like a sci-fi electric dream. With a power that can reach 200 kW, going from 10 to 80% in no time becomes both a necessity and a reality. But don't expect to see simple touch controls. It's a bit like playing Pac-Man on a new technology system, just a bit too complicated for the golden age of video games.
At what price?
Here’s the cherry on top: the price. If you have a set budget, know that you will need almost €75,000. An amount that might tempt you to eye less efficient SUVs, but with a flashier image. However, for those of you who do not dream of betraying themselves behind the wheel of vehicles with somewhat too hairy pretensions, the ID.7 GTX might well turn out to be a solution to consider, as long as flashiness is not an absolute imperative.
In the midst of the electric battle where Volkswagen still carves out a place, this ID.7 Tourer could well be the answer to a growing demand for a less typical break, yet still in tune with the times. A spacious model, whose comfort qualities take precedence over deserved sportiness and driving flexibility. A car to explore on roads and paths, and above all, without the traditional tin-foil hat that many impose on it.
