For nostalgia enthusiasts and convertible lovers, the Volkswagen Eos may seem appealing. With an entry price of around €11,000 for a model 12 to 13 years old, one can only hope that shaping this dream doesn't cost an arm and a leg. But beware! The analysis of actual costs goes well beyond the mere euros spent. The gasoline version, on the other hand, lurks in the €12,000 range, and it’s clear that venturing into the unknown requires a litany of checks. There's no just hitting the gas and praying for it to work, unless you’re a daredevil or simply convinced that luck is on your side.

The conclusion we wouldn't want to hear

With a refreshed version that sometimes fancies itself a superhero while showcasing the typical vulnerability of an aging boxer, the Volkswagen Eos remains a model with a mixed reputation. For those seeking improvements where others have failed, the road can truly prove to be still fraught with pitfalls. When scrutinizing the innovations – such as the keyless start system – one wonders in the end: does this adventure really merit the candle? Food for thought, while sipping a beer with friends in a pub, dreaming of that lovely convertible that might, of course, betray us at the first street corner.
