One would really have to be lacking in action or common sense to think that a rodeo in Marseille is a good idea. On this Monday morning where the sun rises over the streets of the 15th arrondissement, a group of cheerful revellers decided to make their engines roar in a speed demonstration that would have made a Stig on amphetamines green with envy. But alas, this ride on an Audi RS6 abruptly turned into a horror movie scene when a young teacher, a trembling body amidst the chaos, was struck by this impudent sedan, all in front of the Lycée Saint-Exupéry. What irony, right?

A day like any other... or nearly

That morning, as the city awakened, a white Audi, registered in Germany (heaven forbid!), was spotted amidst a deluge of deafening engine sounds. Hardly had the day broken than our brave budding drivers were already taking to the roads in a manner that would undermine any notion of road safety. However, among all those ecstatic shouts, a thirty-year-old teacher, heading peacefully to work, probably didn't imagine that she would be the unfortunate protagonist of a tragic incident.

In search of the vanished Audi

After this uncivil exchange between the car and the pedestrian, the driver, instead of behaving like a responsible citizen, simply stopped for a brief moment, before comrades came to help him evacuate the car from the scene, as if it were a nightclub in the middle of a cacophony. All this while the teacher, injured at the ankle, was receiving help from the firemen, caught between duty and absurdity. A little later, the Audi would return to its home port under the disillusioned gaze of the law enforcement, who would not even be surprised to hear the classic "it's not my fault" arise in such a situation.

Urban rodeo: a trend that should never exist

In the age of education and prevention, these episodes of absent common sense provoke a shiver down the spine. Urban rodeos, which should be relegated to the realm of distant memories, continue to crash onto our roads, bringing with them a dose of danger, violence, and frivolity. This explosive mixture of speed and amateurism could very well rival a bad Netflix series: predictable, boring, and above all, with a tragic storyline.

A lesson to remember?

Ultimately, between the sound of engines and the laughter of the reckless, innocent victims lurk, whether it's the one simply heading to work or other road users trying to live a normal life. In Marseille, as elsewhere, where has logic gone? How can such exposure to risk be accepted, while stigmatising gestures that are otherwise much more pleasant? For automobile enthusiasts, speed is an art. It is certainly not an open-air circus.

I’m that guy they call when everyone else has already said, “It can’t be done.”Obsessed with engines, the smell of grease, and coffee that's way too strong, I spend my days grumbling about modern times while tinkering with stuff that goes faster than it probably should.I’ve got an opinion on everything — especially when nobody asks — and I never do things halfway: it’s either brilliant or a complete disaster. But hey, at least it’s never boring.I believe progress is great… as long as it doesn’t replace elbow grease, common sense, and a good old 12mm wrench. My style? Straightforward, raw, sometimes absurd, often funny (well, I think I’m funny). If you’re looking for someone discreet, politically correct, and ready to tell you what you want to hear… you’ve clearly knocked on the wrong workbench. But if what you want is real ideas, raw passion, and straight talk that smells like gasoline — welcome aboard.
